On February 24th, 2018 I’ll be running in my undies in an effort to raise funds to find a cure for Neurofibromatosis (NF), a disorder that affects 1 in 3,000 births and can cause tumors to grow anywhere on or in the body.
My son, Jake Dylan, was diagnosed with NF in 2016 and I’ve decided to do everything in my power to help Jake and the children and adults who suffer from this genetic disorder by raising money for research.
Each day can bring a new and terrible challenge to Jake. Complications with NF can lead to tumors to grow on the nervous system, disfigurement, blindness, bone deformity, loss of limb, learning disorders, chronic pain, deafness and even death, just to name a few.
I’m running in my undies because Jake and those affected with NF can’t cover up their tumors. He can’t put clothes on to feel more comfortable, so why should I?
My quest for helping my son, Jake, and the others who have NF starts today. I’m asking you for a donation but to also spread the word and see if there are others who’ll donate to this cause. Whether it’s your family, friends, company, church, schools, or any connections that you have that may find it in their hearts to give. Your donation will provide critical funding to the Children’s Tumor Foundation and allow for clinical trials, treatments and ultimately the cure we need.
I’m very humbled by this request. But every time I think about Jake and NF my heart aches. There is no cure, as of yet, but I’m going to do everything in my power to try and find one. Join me in this quest!
If you’d like to learn more about NF and what Jake will deal with for his entire life, check out the Children’s Tumor Foundation website - http://www.ctf.org.
The Children's Tumor Foundation and Cupid Charities dba Cupid's Charity are both 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations and all donations are tax-deductible as provided by law. 100% of net proceeds go specifically to research.
