Adam is now stable enough to begin the clinical trial phase. But it hasn’t been easy.
Adam was diagnosed with neurofibromatosis prior to his first birthday. Today, he is 16 years old and has disabling and debilitating tumors growing on his retina, spine, and all over his arms and legs. Adam has endured multiple surgeries, broken bones, vision loss, hearing loss, developmental delays, decreased respiratory function, severe scoliosis, and is unable to eat without difficulty. He requires a feeding tube for nutrition.
In January of 2015, a large cervicothoracic plexiform neurofibroma tumor was discovered on Adam’s cervical spine. The tumor made it difficult for Adam to breathe easily, jeopardized his coronary vessels, and caused severe spinal deformity. After multiple surgeries to debulk the tumor and repair Adam’s spine, he is now stable and eligible to begin a clinical trial research drug. There is no cure for NF, but there is promising treatment in the clinical trial phase. With continued fundraising by Cupid’s Undie Run, Adam has hope to continue his fight.
You can make a difference for children like Adam. No child should have to go through this, so I am running in my undies in the freezing cold because I will do whatever it takes, no matter how ridiculous, to help find a cure for NF!
Your donation, whether it be $5 or $500, will provide critical funding to the Children's Tumor Foundation and allow for clinical trials, treatments and ultimately the cure we desperately need.
I sincerely thank you, Adam thanks you, and the millions of families who will benefit from this effort thank you.
